You are absolutely right about the personalising of ads. Recently I came by about 40 very interesting items at a very good price and put them up for sale with a flowery title and $1 reserve and away they went. We recently sold the last for $35 to a buy now customer. We probably averaged about $27 over the whole lot with one selling for an incredible $46 in a spirited last minute bidding duel. It was great fun to watch!

By comparison another trader was and probably still is selling the same items but using a bland description and title with just the basic facts - Also for $1 reserve but with three of the items in each auction. He was in Auckland and I'm in New Plymouth so I had a significant cost of freight disadvantage too - and they were quite big items. I looked at his feedback and saw he had been averaging $13 for each of his sales. That's $4.33 each compared to my $27?

Last time I looked he'd flogged both my spiel and my photos! I wish him well, but I've moved on.
