Sellers did not want a stranger coming round (or often failing to turn up completely) and knocking them down, and buyers did like having to travel half way across town only to meet someone who would not negotiate at all. I hope one day things might return to the good old days. I am only 17 but my family has brought it for many years and has brought more bargains than I will ever find on trade me, the telephone contact and viewing before buying is invaluable in the buying and selling trade.
